How many millionaires do you think get to walk in parks and sit on benches just staring into the void? In a fast paced world, how many people do you think truly have peace, poor or rich?
Today we will be talking about, what is truly the most valuable thing on the planet: money or peace?
The Debacle
Now before we get too far into this, I wanna just start off by saying, no I’m not saying that the pursuit of wealth is inherently evil. I personally hate when people say that to me, because when I’m trying to budget my finances, “peace” isn’t exactly in my income column. You can’t take a second mortgage on “peace”, you can’t just survive on “peace” alone. But the point I’m bringing across, what if your seemingly miserable life isn’t as miserable as you may think? What if it’s actually kinda blissful?
Now, like many other people, I am still figuring out my finances. I don’t have all my ducks in a row, so to say. But have you ever appreciated the fact that your life isn’t so fast paced right now? Like you actually have time to sit there and contemplate, plan, strategize. That’s abundance right there if you ask me, abundance of time. Now it may seem counterintuitive because you’re probably trying to find ways to fill up your time. But sometimes life is about enjoying what you have now and being at peace with it, instead of regretting what you don’t have.
Peace is something, that no amount of money can buy. You either have it or you don’t, and in my experience, peace must be cultivated. Like a tiny sapling, you must water your peace, you must tend to it, and you must ward off predators from ruining your beloved peace.
Abundance
Now when we think about an abundant life, we obviously think about material things. Lots of money, a nice car, a nice house, a nice job. But what if abundance was more than just material items? What if spiritual abundance is important too, things that fill your soul? Like qualities like faith, peace, joy, happiness. Now I’m sure by now you’ve heard enough times that money can’t buy you happiness. And as much as you’ve started to hate that concept – trust me I’m there with you – it’s true.
‘Cuz what most people don’t realize, is that money on it’s own is useless. It’s what you do WITH the money that brings true satisfaction. Like let’s say you get $100 million, what are you gonna do with it? Buy a jet? Buy a mansion? And then what? If you think those things are gonna make you happy, well I’m sure life has a wake up call waiting for you.
When I think about abundance, I picture me living a life of joy, purpose, and prosperity. The holy trifecta.
Purpose
To me the secret ingredient isn’t money, it’s purpose. ‘Cuz purpose man… a person who has purpose, honestly doesn’t need anything that doesn’t fulfill his purpose. Be your purpose washing cars, running a lemonade stand, or running a multimillion dollar investment firm (totally not my dream *cough* *cough*). Purpose is that magic glue, that’s gonna keep your life together no matter how much or how little money you have. And when you’re at one with your purpose, you’re at peace with life.
Like say you buy the jet, buy the mansion, now what? If someone told you I’ll write you a check for any amount, tell me how much, and your answer is in the hundreds of millions of billions, in my opinion, you honestly don’t know the value of a dollar. Like what’re you gonna do with all that money? Write it down, it’ll help you figure it out. Write down the amount of money you think you need, and make a symbolic plan of it. Account for each dollar, where is it gonna go?
You need purpose man, ‘cuz when you make the money you want, and you don’t have a purpose, you’re gonna live outside your means ‘cuz you have no direction. That lamborghini is gonna start looking real nice, but do you even need it? You’re not gonna be able to find the answer to that if you don’t even know what you need. Honestly if someone gave me a lamborghini I would sell it and buy a corvette. You gotta know what you want and don’t want man. That’s the key.
When you have purpose and are steadily working towards it, peace will come into your life. Because it’s not just about the *endpoint*, it’s about being on the *path* to that endpoint. As long as you’re walking, and you know where you’re going, you’ll be happy, you’ll be content, you’ll be at peace with where you are on your journey.
Peace is truly the thing no amount of money can buy, but some amount of money can steal. So choose wisely my friend. Know what you want from life, and life might just give it to you. Money may open doors, but purpose guides you through them. Walk your path, and peace will follow.
Peace ✌️
